Judgment
Seat of Christ?
What
is It?
2
Cor. 5:10 For
we must all appear before the judgment
seat of Christ; that every one may
receive the things done in his body,
according to that he hath done,
whether it be good or bad. [KJV] At
the Judgment Seat of Christ, only
TRUE believers will appear. Christ
will not be judging believer’s sins,
for Christ fully atoned for them
on the cross. This special judgment
is to see whether you are going
to receive a reward or lose one
you could have had.
Paul
is writing to BELIEVERS. Every "born again" believer will be
judged, that we may receive the
things done in the body. We all
will be judged on the way we lived
the Christian life. We will each
receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done
in our bodies. When we enter into
His awesome Presence, we will not
have these old bodies. We will have
new glorified bodies. The question
Christ will ask is how we used these bodies. How did we live? Will
we be ashamed? Yes, I would want
to say each of us will have shame
as we stand before this wondrous
Judge.
Philip.
1:21 For to me to live
is Christ, and to die is gain.
[KJV] Paul
wanted to go to be with Christ,
but he also wanted to stay to bring
the Gospel to lost souls. Paul wanted
for Christ to be magnified in his
body that he might be accepted of
Him and that he might receive a
reward. This is how true believers
should feel.
We
will stand before Christ one day
and give a report to Him. If you
are a believer, your name is written
in the Book of Life, and you have
eternal life. But, you will stand
before the Judgment Seat of Christ,
to be judged for rewards or loss
of rewards that you could have had.
You and I will stand before Him.
Knowing this, should motivate us
to serve Him fittingly and willingly.
Then when we come into His Presence,
He will be able to say, "Well done, thou good and
faithful servant" Jesus'
Words. (Mat.25:21,23).
Liberals
believe that we don’t need to be
afraid of God. They portray God
as a sweet, indulgent old man whom
they can treat any way they want.
They believe in the universal fatherhood
of God and the universal brotherhood
of man, which is one of the most damnable heresies (2 Peter
2:1) today. The Bible says nothing
like this at all! BEWARE!
NOT everyone is God’s child! NOT
everyone will go to Heaven as many
False teachers tell you! Heb.10:31 It is a fearful thing
to fall into the hands of the living
God. [KJV] THAT is what the
Bible says!
We
must NOT give false bread to people.
We must NOT preach a watered-down
gospel. Our God is a Holy God, a
righteous God. It is this Holy God
who loves you. It is this Holy God
who wants to save you. But, IF you
don’t come to God His way,
you will have to come before Him
in Judgment and it will NOT be the
Judgment Seat.
2
Cor. 5:11 Knowing therefore
the terror of the Lord, we persuade
men; but we are made manifest unto
God; and I trust also are made manifest
in your consciences. (KJV) Thereare far
too many pulpits from which is never
preached a sermon on Hell. And there
are far few sermons on punishment
and judgment.
Luke
19:10 For the Son of man is come
to seek and to save that which was
lost. [KJV] Jesus'
Words. We
need to realize this sobering fact,
that we will be held accountable
to Him."Go ye therefore" (Mat.28:19). You can bring
the full counsel of God, and do
it in a loving manner. Without Christ,
you are a doomed sinner, and you
are on the way to Hell. You need
Christ! It may not make me popular
to say this, but it is the Word
of God. People everywhere are on
the broad road to Hell (Mat. 7:13-14).
If you want to serve Christ in a
pleasing manner, reach out to these
lost souls. For your effort, you
will receive a reward at the Judgment
Seat of Christ.
What
is the purpose of the Judgment Seat
of Christ?
The
Judgment Seat of Christ is where
the Almighty Judge, Jesus, the Christ,
the Messiah, will judge ALL believers.
If you have accepted Christ as your
Saviour and Lord (John 1:12-13;
3:15-18), your are God’s child and
your destination has already been
decided (Heaven). But, ALL believers
will be judged at the Judgment Seat
of Christ to decide if they receive
rewards or lose rewards for the
way they lived after they were "born
again." Every
Christian will give account of him/herself
to God.
Romans
14:12 So then every
one of us shall give account of
himself to God. [KJV] Jesus
told the Pharisees who wanted to
stone an adulterous woman, "… He that is without sin among
you, let him first cast a stone
at her" Jesus'
Words. (John 8:7). No
one there, threw any stones that
day. We need to realize that we
have to give account of ourselves to Him. Does this upset you? It
does me! There are certain things
I will have trouble explaining.
I shouldn’t sit in judgment of you.
I need to worry about me! I will
stand all alone that day before
Christ. You won’t be able to help
me, and I won’t be able to help
you. Only Christ can read our hearts!
Ephes.
6:7-9 With good will
doing service, as to the Lord, and
not to men: [8] Knowing that whatsoever
good thing any man doeth, the same
shall he receive of the Lord, whether
he be bond or free. [9] And, ye
masters, do the same things unto
them, forbearing threatening: knowing
that your Master also is in heaven;
neither is there respect of persons
with him. [KJV] We
should work willingly and with enthusiasm,
as though we were working for the
Lord rather than for people. Remember
that the Lord will reward each one
of us for the good we do. We shall
be rewarded for our steadfast and
willing service. Every believer
has a responsibility who is a laborer
(employee) and every employer also
has a responsibility to his employees.
In Paul’s day it was master and
slave. Are you doing right by your
boss? Boss, are you treating your
employees well?
What
Will Christ Judge?
- How
we treat other believers. Hebrews
6:10 For God is
not unrighteous to forget your
work and labour of love, which
ye have shewed toward his name,
in that ye have ministered to
the saints, and do minister.
[KJV] God
is NEVER unfair. He will not
forget how hard you have worked
for Him and how you have shown
your love to Him by caring for
other Christians.
- How
we exercise our authority over
others. Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the
rule over you, and submit yourselves:
for they watch for your souls,
as they that must give account,
that they may do it with joy,
and not with grief: for that
is unprofitable for you. [KJV] We
must respect and obey our spiritual
leaders, for their work is to
watch over our souls, for they
are accountable to God. Give
them reason to do this joyfully
and not with sorrow.
- How
we use our God given abilities. 1 Peter 4:10 As every man
hath received the gift, even
so minister the same one to
another, as good stewards of
the manifold grace of God.
[KJV] God
has given gifts to each of us
from His great variety of spiritual
gifts. We must manage them well
so that God's love and generosity
can flow through us to others.
- How
we spend our time. 1 Peter 1:17 And
if ye call on the Father, who
without respect of persons judgeth
according to every man's work,
pass the time of your sojourning
here in fear: [KJV] We
must remember that our heavenly
Father to whom we pray has no
favorites when He judges. He
will judge or reward us according
to what we do. So you must live
in reverent fear of Him during
our time as foreigners here
on Earth.
- How
we use our money. 1 Tim. 6:17-19 Charge them that are rich
in this world, that they be
not highminded, nor trust in
uncertain riches, but in the
living God, who giveth us richly
all things to enjoy; [18] That
they do good, that they be rich
in good works, ready to distribute,
willing to communicate; [19]
Laying up in store for themselves
a good foundation against the
time to come, that they may
lay hold on eternal life.
[KJV] Most
people who are rich are proud
and trust in their money; but
money and possessions are short-lived.
We should trust in the living
God, who richly gives us all
we need for our enjoyment. We
should be rich in good works
and should share with those
in need, always being ready
to share with others whatever
God has given us. In doing so
we will store up "treasure
in Heaven" as a good foundation
for the future so that we may
take hold of real life.
- How
we run our race. Philip. 3:14 I press toward the mark
for the prize of the high calling
of God in Christ Jesus.
[KJV] We
should strive to run our race
(our life) to the best of our
ability.
- How
we control our old nature. Ephes. 4:22 That ye put off concerning
the former conversation the
old man, which is corrupt according
to the deceitful lusts;
[KJV] We
should cast off our old evil
nature, as we would dirty clothes;
and our former way of life,
which is rotten through and
through.
- How
many people we witness to. Daniel 12:3 And they that
be wise shall shine as the brightness
of the firmament; and they that
turn many to righteousness as
the stars for ever and ever.
[KJV] Those
who are wise will shine as bright
as the stars, reaching out to
the lost souls around them.
- How
we react to temptation. James 1:2-3 My brethren,
count it all joy when ye fall
into divers temptations; [3]
Knowing this, that the trying
of your faith worketh patience.
[KJV] Whenever
trouble comes our way, it can
be an opportunity for joy. For
when our faith is tested, our
patience and endurance has a
chance to grow.
- How
we react to temptation. James 1:2-3 My brethren,
count it all joy when ye fall
into divers temptations; [3]
Knowing this, that the trying
of your faith worketh patience.
[KJV] Whenever
trouble comes our way, it can
be an opportunity for joy. For
when our faith is tested, our
patience and endurance has a
chance to grow.
- How
much the coming of Christ means
to you. 2 Timothy 4:8 Henceforth
there is laid up for me a crown
of righteousness, which the
Lord, the righteous judge, shall
give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them
also that love his appearing.
[KJV] The
crown of righteousness (a grand
reward) will be given by the
Lord on that great day; to all
who eagerly look forward to
His glorious return.
- How
much you think of Christ. Matthew 10:41-42 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. [42] And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward. [KJV] Jesus'
Words. You
can be sure that whoever gives
even a drink of cold water to
one of the least of Jesus’ followers
will certainly receive a reward.
Christ does not say we deserve
a reward; for we CANNOT merit
ANYTHING from the Hand of God;
but we shall receive a reward
as a free gift from God. Let
us boldly confess Christ, and
show love to Him and His followers
in all things.
- How
we use words. Matthew
12:36 But
I say unto you, That every idle
word that men shall speak, they
shall give account thereof in
the day of judgment. [KJV] Jesus'
Words. You
can be sure that on the Judgment
Day you will have to give account
of EVERY useless word you have
ever spoken.
- How
we treat God's land and animals. Psalm 24:1 The earth is the Lord's,
and the fulness thereof; the
world, and they that dwell therein. [KJV] The
world and all that is in it
belong to the Lord; the Earth
and all who live on it are His,
and we should treat it accordingly.
I absolutely despise people
who dump defenseless little
animals. I know for a fact that
these people shall be punished
severly for this cruelty.
- What
motivates you to serve God. 1 Cor. 3:13-15 Every man's work shall be
made manifest: for the day shall
declare it, because it shall
be revealed by fire; and the
fire shall try every man's work
of what sort it is. [14] If
any man's work abide which he
hath built thereupon, he shall
receive a reward. [15] If any
man's work shall be burned,
he shall suffer loss: but he
himself shall be saved; yet
so as by fire. [KJV] Believers
must build on Christ, not on
any other person or principle.
Christ will evaluate believers
at the Judgment Seat ("the
Day") and will reveal the
sincerity of each person’s work.
He will determine whether or
not we have been faithful to
His instructions. Good work
will be rewarded; unfaithful
or inferior work will be discounted.
The builder "will be saved,
but only as one escaping through
the flames" meaning that
unfaithful workers will be saved,
but will be like people escaping
from a burning building. (Escape
by the skin of their teeth,
as the old expression goes).
All their possessions (accomplishments)
will be lost. Only what we do
for Christ will stand. Matthew 6:20-21 But lay up for
yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust
doth corrupt, and where thieves
do not break through nor steal:
[21] For where your treasure
is, there will your heart be
also. [KJV] Jesus'
Words.
These are some things that will
be brought up at the Judgment Seat
of Christ. I’m sure there are more.
Anyone "in Christ"
is assured of Heaven. The judgment
is to decide rewards or discounts
(losses). I believe there are various
degrees of Heaven AND Hell. How
we live now (here on Earth) will
decide our eternal future.
Matthew
25:13 Watch therefore,
for ye know neither the day nor
the hour wherein the Son of man
cometh. [KJV] Jesus'
Words. Christ
COULD come at any time in the clouds
to call believers Home.
1
Thes. 4:13-17 But I would not
have you to be ignorant, brethren,
concerning them which are asleep,
that ye sorrow not, even as others
which have no hope. [14] For if
we believe that Jesus died and rose
again, even so them also which sleep
in Jesus will God bring with him.
[15] For this we say unto you by
the word of the Lord, that we which
are alive and remain unto the coming
of the Lord shall not prevent them
which are asleep. [16] For the Lord
himself shall descend from heaven
with a shout, with the voice of
the archangel, and with the trump
of God: and the dead in Christ shall
rise first: [17] Then we which are
alive and remain shall be caught
up together with them in the clouds,
to meet the Lord in the air: and
so shall we ever be with the Lord.
