The Righteous VS the Wicked
Psalm 1:6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. [KJV] . . . The ungodly are opposite of the righteous, both in their character and their condition. The ungodly are led by the advice (counsel) of the wicked, they stand in the way of sinners, they sit with the scornful (mockers of God). They have absolutely NO delight in the law of God; they bring forth only evil fruit. The righteous are like fruitful trees: the ungodly are like the chaff which blows away with the wind. They are of NO worth in God's eyes . . . no matter how highly they view themselves. They run to and fro with every temptation. The doom of the ungodly is fixed, unless he repents of his sin. If that happens, he is no longer a child of the devil but a child of God (1 John 3:10), and he is admitted into the company of the righteous by Christ. He becomes a new creature in Christ . . . He has new desires, new pleasures, new hopes, and new friends. ALL his thoughts, words, and actions, are changed. He has a new character. All things are become new by the Divine grace of God (2 Cor.5:17). His soul is changed into the image of the Blessed Redeemer. NO one has to be wicked! NO one has to face God's wrath! NO one has to go to Hell!
Psalm 7:9 Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins. [KJV] . . . The hearts and reins is the affections and motives of men, or the seat of them. God sees and knows ALL things, even our thoughts (Eze.11:5). I cannot comprehend this! He is awesome! NO one can fool God! God KNOWS if you are for Him OR against him! His verdict on Judgment Day will be right and just!
Psalm 11:5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. [KJV] . . . God does allow trials to come the way of the righteous, but He never abandons them (Heb.13:5). He tries us to reveal our faithfulness. Any afflictions He allows is for our good (Rom.8:28). His soul hateth . . . The wicked person will always be hated by the Lord; so too the violent man, the destroyer and murderer. His soul hateth is an expression of uncommon strength and energy. Because of all the perfections of His Divine nature, hatred of evil is a must, and is rightful part of our Holy and righteous God.
Psalm 34:15-16 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. [KJV] . . . The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right. He always hears their cries for help.
But the LORD is opposed to, and turns His Face against those who do evil; and He will erase their memory from the Earth.
Psalm 34:21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. [KJV] . . . There is quite a contrast in the destiny of righteous and wicked. The righteous shall be delivered and never come into condemnation (John 3:18; 5:24; Rom.8:1). The wicked are left under condemnation and desolate.
Psalm 37:16-17 The little that the righteous hath is better than the abundance of many wicked; For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous. [KJV] . . . God blesses whatever a good man has, but God even curses the blessings of the wicked. The arms of the wicked is their power to do evil. Of this they are often deprived.
Psalm 37:32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. [KJV] . . . Just as the wicked hated Jesus (John 15:18), so too they hate His followers.
Psalm 75:10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted. [KJV] . . . Horns is a symbol of power, strength. All the power and influence of the wicked, God will cut off; but will lift up and extend the power of the righteous. All was fulfilled: the wicked Babylonians were cut off; the righteous Jews, were delivered and exalted.
Proverbs 2:21-22 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it. But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it. [KJV] . . . Hypocrites are those who act on borrowed characters. They pretend to be something that they are not. All such shall be rooted out of the land.
Proverbs 3:32 For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous. [KJV] . . . Froward is perverse, stubborn, wicked. God hates a froward person. His secret . . . is with the righteous; in their communion with Him (Amos 3:7). God's Divine favor is shown to the humble believer.
Proverbs10:2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death. [KJV] . . . Anything gained by wicked means won't last. Any treasures gained by robbery often bring an untimely death; but those gained by a righteous means bring with them no such consequences.
Proverbs 10:25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation. [KJV] . . . Tornadoes sweep away every thing in their path; so it shall be with the wrath of God . . . He shall sweep away the wicked. But the righteous, are built on the eternal foundation, and shall never be shaken (Luke 6:46-49; Eph.2:20; 1 Pet.2:6).
Proverbs 10:28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. [KJV] . . . The hopes of the righteous result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked are all in vain. Only God's mercy leads to hope of eternal life, but the wicked keep rejecting that mercy, that grace!
Proverbs 10:30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth. [KJV] . . . The righteous shall never be removed because they are built on the eternal foundation, the Rock, which is Christ (Deut.32:4; Rom.9:33; 1 Cor.10:4).
Proverbs 10:32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness. [KJV] . . . Because the righteous covet God and His love in their heart, they speak words that are helpful and kind. But because the love of God is not in the heart of the wicked, there is no kindness on their lips. The wicked speak only what is unkind and corrupt.
Proverbs 11:21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered. [KJV] . . . No matter how many join together in evil; no matter how many think their actions are OK; no matter how many rich and powerful join their confederation to support each other, justice absolutely take place! NO wicked person shall escape punishment that is due them. But, the righteous shall triumph. Victory is theirs! Thank You Jesus!
Proverbs 11:23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath. [KJV] . . . The righteous want only what is good. The wicked person thinks only of evil and can fully expect the wrath of God on Judgment Day.
Proverbs 14:9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour. [KJV] . . . Only a fool is stupid enough to make fun of sin, which God hates. On the other hand, the righteous acknowledge sin and seek reconciliation with God (1 John 1:8-9). To make a sport of sinning leads to a place (HELL) where no one wants to go! They face God's wrath and shall suffer the vengeance of an eternal fire.
Proverbs 14:32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death. [KJV] . . . The wicked are driven away in their wickedness. They do not leave life cheerfully. They have NO hope for Heaven. But the righteous do have hope in their death! They rejoice, knowing they depart to be with Christ (2 Cor.5:8-9). To a believer, death is gain; he is not reluctant to go, he is anxious to hear the call of God, for he knows he goes to a better place (Heb. 11:16).
Proverbs 15:9 The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.[KJV] . . . The LORD hates the way the wicked live, but He loves those who seek to do right.
Proverbs 15:28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things. [KJV] . . . The righteous person thinks before he speaks. He never puts his tongue in gear until he first considers the situation. He never speaks rashly, but ponders his thoughts and his words. But the mouth of a wicked person pours out a flood of evil things.
Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous. [KJV] . . . God does NOT hear the prayers of the wicked (Deut.31:18; Ps.44:24; 66:18; Isa. 1:19; 59:2; John 9:31; 17:9), but He always hears a believer and answers them.
Isaiah 3:10-11 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him. [KJV] . . . The righteous person: #1 Fears God. #2 Departs from evil. #3 Walks in obedience to God. #4 And expects and prepares for a glorious immortality.
The wicked person: #1 Has no fear of God. #2 Has evil in his heart and purposes. #3 Walks with the devil. #4 Does not think about eternity. He is wicked, he does that which is wicked; and is influenced by the wicked one, of whom he is the servant and the son. The reward of his hands . . . He shall get what he deserves. He shall be cursed through eternity!
Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. [KJV] Jesus' words.. . . Jesus shall be the Judge! (Mat.25:32; John 5:22,27; 8:16; Jude 1:15; Rev.19:11). NO one will be able to say they didn't get a fair trial!
1 Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. [KJV] . . . This is similar to Pro.15:29 above.
1 Peter 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? [KJV] . . . If the righteous are barely saved, what chance will godless sinners have?
There was only One who could save us. But who would have thought that the Son of God would have been willing to become a man, and die on a cross to do it? If He had been not been willing to come and make the Perfect Sacrifice for us, the righteous could NOT have been saved.
There is a difficulty of bringing those who are not saved to a willingness to accept the Gift of salvation. All people reject it for some period of time. Some believe quicker than others. Some never believe! There were many obstacles in the human heart, coming from pride, selfishness, unbelief, wealth and the love of sin. These must be overcome before the person can accept God's offer of mercy and grace. There is only One agent who can overcome these things, and persuade any of the race to embrace the Gospel of Christ . . . that being the Holy Spirit. Only the Spirit of God can renew and sanctify the polluted human heart. If He failed, there could have been NO salvation for anyone.
There is a difficulty of keeping people from falling away amidst the many temptations and allurements of the world. Often it is very doubtful whether those who have professed Christ as Saviour and Lord will make it through! (Mat.13:1-23). The world lures them in so many ways. Very few do make it through, as is clearly stated in the Bible (Mat.7:13-14; Luke 18:8).
There is a difficulty of rescuing them from the power of the great enemy of souls. The devil has great power, and he will try to destroy those who are the children of God (John 1:12-13). It is not easy to rescue a soul from the power of Satan, and to bring that soul to Heaven, where it shall be eternally safe. There are internal struggles and outward conflicts of life. Some times it is scarcely possible that they could be saved.
Where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear! What hope is there of their salvation? There is always hope as long as the person is alive (Heb.9:27).
There is a difficulty in the salvation of the wicked as there was in the salvation of those who became righteous. That difficulty comes from the love of sin, the hardness of the heart, stubbornness and the deceitful trickery and power of the devil.
No one can be saved without right decisions and effort. The righteous are saved by constant and strenuous effort on their part. But the wicked make no effort for their own salvation.
Where will they appear? The wicked shall appear before the Great Judge on Judgment Day! They will not cease to exist when they pass away from this world . . . as some believe! Not one of them will be annihilated. Yes! They shall vanish from the Earth, and will be seen here no more, BUT they will make their appearance in some other part of the universe . . . the heart of the Earth . . . that being Hell! There absolutely will be a state of future punishment. The punishment of the wicked will be eternal, for it is the opposite of what is meant by being saved.
