Punishment of the Wicked is Certain

God CANNOT Lie!

Many professing Christians think that they must make an apology or an excuse for the wrath of God. WRONG! Please do NOT consider God's Holy wrath as a blemish on His Divine character. Consider His wrath as a Promise, a Promise that He CANNOT break. To a TRUE believer, a TRUE child of God, that is awesome! We serve a God who CANNOT lie! We can believe EVERYTHING that He says! That is absolutely awesome!

Please don't think that God's Holy wrath is too severe. Don't think His wrath is not consistent with His goodness, and try to dismiss it from your thoughts. He is always right in His decisions because He is all-wise! He knows what is best in every circumstance! BELIEVE IT!

God has NEVER made any attempt to ever conceal the FACT of His wrath. He is not ashamed to reveal that vengeance and fury belong unto Him. We must NOT be ashamed of God in any way!

Deut. 32:39-42 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. [40] For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever. [41] If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me. [42] I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy. [43] Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people. [KJV] . . . This is the song of Moses. It speaks of: #1. Glory to God. #2. No escape can be made from His power. #3. Terror to His enemies. Terror indeed to those who hate Him. Amen! The wrath of God is here revealed from heaven against them. #4. It speaks of comfort to His people. #5 His mercy.

Whatever judgments God brings upon sinners, was/is due to their disobedience and hatred of/for Him . . . and those judgments are always best for the people of God.

Be convinced that God can save, and God can destroy. He can kill and make alive. His mercy is as great as His justice, for He is always ready to save those who repent, just as He is always ready to punish rebellious sinners.

If you go to the Bible concordance, it will show that there are more references in Scripture to the anger, fury, and wrath of God, than there are to His love, mercy and tenderness. Because God is Holy, He hates ALL sin . . . and because He hates ALL sin, His righteous anger constantly burns against wicked sinners.

Psalm 7:11-13 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. [12] If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready. [13] He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors. [KJV] . . . If a person does not repent, God will sharpen His sword and make ready His bow. He will prepare His weapons of death and light His flaming arrows.

The wrath of God is as much a part of His Divine perfection as is His love, faithfulness, power, or mercy. It HAS to be this way, because there is absolutely NO blemish whatsoever, and NO defect whatsoever in the character of God . . . but there would be if "wrath" were not a part of Him!

How could He who is infinitely Holy disregard sin and refuse to manifest His "severity" (Rom. 9:12) toward it? How could He who delights ONLY in that which is pure and lovely, not hate that which is impure and vile? The absolutely PERFECT nature of God makes Hell a NECESSITY! Hell is just as important and eternally necessary as Heaven is! Not only is there no imperfection in God, but there is no perfection in Him aside from what He is and does. His Holy and righteous wrath is a MUST!

The wrath of God is His eternal hatred of all unrighteousness. It is the displeasure and righteous anger of Divine equity against ALL evil. It is the holiness of God stirred into activity against sin. It is the judgment of that just sentence which He passes upon evil-doers. God is angry against sin because it is a rebelling against His authority, and that is a wrong done to His inviolable sovereignty. Those who rebel against God shall be made to know that God IS the Lord. He IS in charge of the Universe! They shall one day KNOW how great is that Majesty which they despise, and how dreadful is that wrath for which they had so little respect. God’s wrath is NOT a malignant and malicious retaliation, that inflicts injury for the sake of it, or in return for injury received. God will absolutely vindicate, justify His dominion as the Governor of the Universe, but He will NEVER be vindictive, NEVER be spiteful.

The wrath of God is a Divine perfection, and is plainly demonstrated by the following.

Psalm 89:35 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. [KJV] . . . God swears by His holiness.

Psalm 95:11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest. [KJV] . . . Here God swears by His wrath. According to God, His "wrath" is a perfection and equal to His "holiness." He swears by the one as much as by the other!

God's Divine perfections are brilliantly displayed by Jesus (John 1:14-18). Wrath is actually a powerful attribute of our God, in . . . "the wrath of the Lamb" (Rev. 6:16).

The wrath of God is a perfection of His Divine character, upon which we should frequently reflect. #1. Our hearts should be properly impressed by God’s hatred of sin. We are tempted to regard sin lightly, and to make excuses for its ugliness. But the more we study and consider God’s hatred of sin and His awful vengeance upon it, the more likely are we to realize just how heinous sin really is. #2. A true fear of sin should be created in our souls. "Let us have grace whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: for our God is a consuming fire" (Heb. 12:28,29). We cannot serve God in a pleasing and acceptable manner unless we have a "reverence" for His awful Majesty and "godly fear" of His righteous anger. #3. Our souls should burst forth in continual and fervent praise for having delivered us from "the wrath to come" (1 Thes. 1:10). Have you Thanked Him today?

Most "Christians" are reluctant to meditate upon the wrath of God because it is a sure test of how their hearts really stand with Him. We must truly rejoice in God, and rejoice for what He is in Himself . . . that being that ALL His Divine perfections eternally reside in Him, including His Holy and righteous wrath! Each of us must be on guard against creating an image of God in our thoughts which is nothing like He really is, but what we want Him to be. "Thou thoughtest that I was altogether as thyself" (Ps. 50:21). If we rejoice not "at the remembrance of His holiness" (Ps. 97:12), if we rejoice not, knowing that on Judgment Day, God will make an awesome display of His wrath, by taking vengeance on all who oppose Him, then our hearts are not submissive to Him, and we are still in our sins, and on the way to the Lake of Fire.

Rev.19:1-2 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: [2] For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. [KJV] . . . The FALSE church (every denomination left behind after the Rapture) . . . is the great whore! The Righteous Judge shall avenge all those who were killed by the Antichrist. Great will be the rejoicing of the saints in that day when the Lord shall vindicate His majesty, exercise His power, magnify His justice, and overthrow the proud rebels who have dared to defy Him. The wrath of God is on the side of ALL God's TRUE children! What He does is always right!
