WHAT Does GOD Have To Say?
Blasphemy, Chapter 4
Profane or mocking speech, writing or actions concerning God or His Word, or His children. Ridicule or contempt for Almighty God, His Son, Jesus or the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 74:10-11 O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever? 11 Why withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck it out of thy bosom. (KJV)
From where we stand, it seems that God is really slow to intervene on His enemies, and ours.
But we need remember, God’s clock and our clock, are quite different! God is on an eternal clock. We may ask, How long, O God, will you allow our enemies to dishonor You? Why are You holding back your power?
2 Peter 3:8But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the
Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Any unbeliever who blasphemes Almighty God shall surely be punished. BUT, if and when you
repent (admit God is right and you are wrong) and make a ‘U’ turn, going the other way
(TOWARD GOD, instead of away), accepting Jesus and His Work on the Cross; your sins will be forgiven you, all of them, no matter what you’ve done! Jesus makes you right with God!
Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
There is NO sin committed yesterday, today or tomorrow that the Lord would not forgive, because He died for all sin. But, you must believe, and accept what Jesus did, and why He did it. The Holy Spirit came into the world to reveal the salvation that is in Jesus. He works through the hearts of men and women. If you feel a ‘tugging’ at your heart telling you to read God’s Word, or go to church, or attend a Bible study, or telling you something you see is not ‘right’, or to get down on your knees before the Almighty One; this is the work of God’s Holy Spirit! But if you resist the Spirit of God when He strives with you, there is NO forgiveness, there cannot be any forgiveness, because you have rejected the salvation of your soul by Jesus that His Spirit is plainly revealing to you. In this day and time, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is rejecting Jesus when the Holy Spirit reveals Him to you. God says this sin cannot be forgiven. You must believe God!
Mark 3:22And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.
Mark 3:28-29 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 9But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
To have Jesus with them and then accuse Him of casting out demons by Beelzebub (a heathen god) whom Jesusidentifies with Satan, was horrific, because Jesus cast out the demons by the power of the Holy Spirit. The scribes (teachers of the law) were ascribing the holy power of God’s Spirit to Satan (blasphemy of the Holy Spirit). Jesus said this was unforgivable! They were expressing an attitude of unbelief and in reality, permanentlyrejecting our Saviour and Lord, Jesus, the Christ!
Mark 7:20-23And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 21For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
Jesus is teaching about ‘inner’ purity in these verses. It is NOT what we eat or put into our body that defiles us spiritually. Some of the things we put into our bodies may not be good for us physically; such as too much food, too much liquor, cigarettes, drugs, etc. But Jesus said it is what comes OUT of us is what defiles (make us dirty, filthy, corrupt, and does pollute) us spiritually! The heart of a man will eventually reveal the true man. You can play hypocrite just so long, but sooner or later, the true you will show by your words and/or your deeds. And friend, you can fool people, but you can NEVER fool God. He knows you . . . inside out!
Acts 13:45But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.
When Paul began to preach the Gospel to the Gentiles (anyone who is not a Jew), the Jewish leaders were there to curse and contradict anything he said. Today, those of us who preach and teach the glorious Gospel of Christ are still cursed and contradicted by many; mostly leaders of
cults (false religions). Paul did not quit; we must not either. We must bring the Truth that is so plainly stated in God’s Holy Word, even if we are cursed and blasphemed.
Col. 3:8But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
None of these things are fitting for God’s children. Once you are born into the family of
God, you receive the Holy Spirit which then abides with you “forever” (Jn.14:16). The ‘things’ listed above are of the devil. You will no longer be able to do these things, for the Spirit will make you very uncomfortable. You will want to “put off all these things”.
Matthew 12:36-37 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
The words that we speak, as we live, will play a large roll in the day when we stand before the Great and Mighty Judge. “Idle words” are careless, useless, vain, foolish, unprofitable words. Idle words are also those spoken without pre-thought; they are also blasphemy. We shall be judged by the words we speak. We really need to take into consideration just how serious this is.
James 2:7Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
In the previous verse James is talking about rich men. Yes, they do blaspheme the worthy Name of Christ Jesus. But, sad to say, they are not the only ones. From the most wealthy, to the homeless man on the street, Jesus Christ is blasphemed. Some cannot say two words without taking Jesus’ Name in vain. TV programs and movies are no longer fit to watch. It seems that very few people today ‘fear’ God. We need to reverence and respect God; hold Him in a
place of awe, we should “fear this glorious and fearful Name (Deut.28:58). Instead He is blasphemed! I pray that you are not guilty!
