Judgment Day IS Coming
God Does NOT Lie!
Second Peter chapter 3 tells us that in the last days there are going to be scoffers walking after their own lusts. That perfectly describes today! It is unbelievable the number of people today who scoff, jeer, make fun of, or mock the things of God. Their contempt for any of the things of God, and their refusal to believe anything Biblically based about the things of God is beyond belief! See 2 Peter 3: . . . . . . . . http://www.godcannotlie.org/2_peter_ch3.htm
Peter not only mentions that they scoff but that they walk after their own lusts. I don’t think that there's ever been a time in the history of the world, including Sodom and Gomorrah, where people are as wicked in following after their own immoral lusts as the world is today, in all the big cities and even in rural, country places. They follow after their own lusts, instead of after the things of God.
They make fun of the Promises of the Coming of the Lord, and His Promises to Return. A large part of the so-called ‘Christians’ in the world today do not believe the Millennial Kingdom will take place (Rev.20:1-4). They do not believe that there will be an actual thousand year reign of Christ upon the Earth. They are WRONG. The Scriptures clearly teach that there shall be a reign . . . but scoffers deny this.
There were scoffers in Peter’s time, just as we have today. They were much the same as our scoffers today. They had heard the Gospel, because you can be sure that Peter preached the Gospel to them, just as the other apostles did. Many had heard the Gospel, but many had rejected the Gospel and walked after their own lusts just as so many people do today! They laughed at God and future judgment, and they asked, "Where is God? I don't see Him.” How sad! We need to pray for these lost souls.
People today, just as they did in Peter’s time, asked stupid questions. “Where's the promise of His coming?" And too, they look down on us who believe God, and say: "All they talk about is Judgment Day and about the Coming again of the Lord." Dear one, it is not just so many words, it is God's Promise to us! And God does NOT lie! (Tit.1:2).
The people to whom Peter was speaking decided that if there were no God and no judgment they would just do as they pleased, and they followed their own lusts. That is what a great percentage of people today have decided, so they just do what they want to do and follow their own lusts. Sad to say, most people today live as if there is no God. What a shock is coming to them, because they are WRONG, and Judgment Day looms!
Dear one, God really does participate in an open and recognizable ways in history, for instance Noah. Genesis 6:5-8 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. (KJV) . . . Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD! Oh! What a wonderful assessment of this Godly man! There are many clear examples from the Scriptures where God DID intervene openly in history and bring down judgment.
God DOES get involved in history. He also stepped in at a later time to destroy Sodom and Gomorra . . . you can find that record in Genesis chapter 19. There are many who say that destruction never happened . . . they are WRONG! God does NOT lie! The mention of Sodom and Gomorrah’s downfall is also found in Deut.29:23; Isa.113:19; Jer.23:14; 49:18; 50:40; Amos 4:11; and Zep.2:9. IF it did not happen, WHY does God mention it so often?
Matthew chapter 24 teaches that judgment will come as a thief in the night . . . unexpectedly, suddenly and with no further warning. Peter also refers to that: 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (KJV) Matthew 24 gives more details, and also Luke 12, and others.
Matthew 24:42-43 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. (KJV)
Luke 12:39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. (KJV) 1 Thes. 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. (KJV) Revelation 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. (KJV)
There has never been a time in the history of the world when so many people refuse to believe that Christ shall ever come again. They simply scoff at the idea that there is a Judgment Day coming for them or anyone, and that Christ shall come as a thief in the night. Dear one, He shall come with NO warning when people least expect it. That's what He means in the above verses. Suddenly, one day it will happen. Many people shall suddenly disappear! 1 Thes. 4:13-17 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (KJV) 1 Cor. 15:51-53 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. (KJV)
2 Peter 3:3-4 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. (KJV) . . . Scoffers abounded then and now! And that means that the Second Coming is near when the scoffers abound. And when that happens as he says in verse 10, the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Some may say, "How could this happen?" Dear one, no one can explain how God is going to do it. The Bible say He shall DO it, so we simply believe it! We do NOT have to try to explain how God will do it! He shall do it . . . period!
When will this take place? I think the answer follows: 2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. (KJV) . . . Consider the last part of the verse, the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. What is Peter talking about? I think he means the Great White Throne Judgment (Rev.20:11-15). Quite possibly, that is when this purification of the Earth by fire is going to take place. Yes, Judgment Day is coming!
People do not like to think of the FACT that they are indeed moving toward Judgment Day.
The rich man in his limousine, Mercedes or Rolls Royce . . . WHERE is he going? He's on his way to Judgment Day! What about the poor, homeless barefoot man that cannot even afford a pair of shoes, WHERE is he going? He too is on his way to Judgment Day! The rich man may be riding in high class comfort, and the poor, barefoot man walking in rags . . . but they both are on their way to face Judgment! Both the energetic young man and the feeble old man are on their way to Judgment Day!
Dear one, both born again Christians and unbelievers who reject Jesus are moving toward their day of judgment. But . . . there is a BIG difference in their judgment. That is what is SO important! Both the saved and the unsaved are moving toward Judgment Day . . . but there's a huge difference in their judgment.
1 Cor. 3:11-15 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. (KJV)
2 Cor. 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. (KJV) . . . A TRUE Christian will be judged at the judgment seat of Christ . . . for his rewards OR loss of rewards he could have had, and for his position in the Millennial Kingdom of Christ. He will in NO way will be judged to find out if he's saved or not. That has already been decided. Once a person has been saved, he is saved forever! The Judgment Seat has nothing to do a person’s being saved. If a person stands before the Judgment Seat of Christ, that is the sign that he is saved or he would not be there. There is no way that he could possibly be lost or condemned to Hell.
But the unsaved, the unbelievers, shall stand before the Great White Throne Judgment a thousand years after the saved have stood at the Judgment Seat of Christ. The great white throne judgment is described in: Revelation 20:11-15 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (KJV) . . . It is the final judgment before ALL lost souls are cast into the lake of fire. The books that are opened (verse 12) contain records of everyone’s deeds, whether they are good or evil, because God knows everything that has ever been said, done or even thought, and He will reward or punish each one according to their deeds (Ps.28:4; 62:12; Rom.2:6; Rev.2:23; 22:12).
Revelation 20:7-10 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (KJV)
. . . We know from this Scripture that this judgment will take place AFTER the Millennium and after Satan, the beast and the false prophet are thrown into the lake of fire.
It seems that anyone who stands at the white throne judgment, are lost unbelievers. Once in front of that Great White Throne, there is NO way they can be then be saved. They have already refused to believe God and rejected Christ. That is why they are at the White Throne Judgment.
This judgment does not determine IF they are saved or lost (condemned), but only to decide their position in Hell. Neither is it to decide the length of time in Hell . . . for that too has already been determine . . . and that is for eternity! Dear one . . . there is NO purgatory! That is the devil’s LIE!!!
I truly believe that there are different degrees of rewards in Heaven and different degrees of punishment in Hell. Judgment day is coming!
There will one day be a New Jerusalem coming down from God out of Heaven (Rev.21:1-2), from the third heaven (2 Cor.12:2), where God is. The Bible speaks about the third heaven and shows that it is where God is. When the Earth is renovated and the heavens are made new, that beautiful city will come down from Heaven just as the Scripture teaches.
And this is going to be our heavenly home. This New Jerusalem that Jesus is building now in Heaven (Jn.14:2-3) will come down and it will be our eternal heavenly home. There is NO fear for the TRUE Christian. I have made my peace with God and I know I'm on my way to Heaven. YES! We can know we are going to Heaven! The Bible tells us so! John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. (KJV) 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (KJV)
Are you going to Heaven? I hope and pray that you are. I have given my heart and soul to Christ, and my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus's Blood and righteousness, as that beautiful old hymn states! Can you say that? If you can't, then you need to place your faith in Jesus right now. I can say and mean it, Even so, come Lord Jesus (Rev.22:20). Can you say that and mean it? If you can, Judgment Day holds no terror for you! Judgment Day is coming! Let us pray for the scoffers.
