??Christ . . . Tortured by Satan??
Copeland says that “Satan and every demon tortured Christ in the depths of Hell.” So, . . . is Satan the master of either Hell or the Lake of Fire? NO way! Far from it . . . for one day he himself shall be tormented continously for eternity!
Rev. 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (KJV)
This horrible heresy states that our salvation comes from Satan torturing Christ Jesus in Hell during the 3 days that His Body was in the tomb. That is NOT what the Gospel teaches! That is NOT what the Bible clearly states! That is NOT the Gospel that saves us!
Jesus did NOT go to the Lake of Fire to suffer for our sins! He paid the FULL penalty of our sins on the cross of Calvary.
John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. (KJV) Finished here means: completed, executed, concluded, discharged (a debt); accomplished, made an end to, to pay, to perform. Jesus paid it ALL! He finished the task that the Father set before Him!
Col. 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. (KJV) Christ’s sacrificial death provided a way for ALL people to come to God. This does NOT mean that everyone has been saved, but that the way has been cleared for anyone (whosoever) who will trust Christ to be saved.
Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. (KJV) It was God’s grace to us, that led Christ to His death. Jesus did not come into the world to gain status or political power, but to suffer and die so that we could have eternal life.
Rev. 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. (KJV) S0 - - - how could Christ “taste death for every man” without suffering the second death that every lost sinner will endure eternally in the Lake of Fire? He couldn’t! So - - - how could He suffer the torment of the Lake of Fire while He hung on that cross?
Consider the following:
Physical death is NOT sin’s full penalty; FAR from it!
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (KJV) How?? can eternal punishment of the soul and spirit be physical???? Physical death separates a person from his/her body.
2 Cor. 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (KJV)
Eccles. 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. (KJV) Physical death opens the door to judgment and eternal punishment without Jesus!
Punishment in Hell and the Lake of Fire cannot be physical . . . but spiritual. Do I believe in the real flames of Hell? Absolutely! Are these flames physical? No, I don’t think so. God is a Spirit! John 4:24-a God is a Spirit: . . . (KJV) Satan and his demons are spirits. When we die physically, we shall then be spirits! I believe that the flames of Hell are eternal, spiritually. Our soul is spiritual and our temporary body dies at physical death, but our soul lives on forever either in Heaven OR Hell!
What about the “water of life” that Jesus offered to the woman at the well? That same “water” is what He offers to every repentant sinner. Is it physical??? Or is it spiritual??? Is that “water” not real because it is not physical??? Then . . . WHY must the flames of Hell be physical??? The rich man was tormented in the flames of Hell (Luke 16:23) . . . but it was only his soul and spirit that were tormented, because he had died physically (Luke 16:22). His physical body was dead! So, too, was Jesus’ Body dead physically while He was in the tomb.
God’s holiness, righteousness and judgment . . . is it not real? YES!!! His holiness, righteousness and judgment are absolutely real!!! But . . . are they physical? Isn’t God a Spirit???? His holiness, righteousness and judgment are much more terrifying and tormenting than physical fire could ever be! Does your conscience not tell you that sin really is absolute rebellion against God? Does not your conscience tell you that the horror of rejecting Christ’s Sacrifice on the cross (for YOU), will one day place you in those flames of Hell?
1 Cor. 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. (KJV) I truly believe that the agony Christ Jesus endured on that horrific cross was the time that Jesus felt the Father turn His Back on the sins of the world as Jesus lovingly paid the penalty of OUR sins!
Mark 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? (KJV) Jesus' Words.
God made A Way . . . one and only ONE Way for sinners to be justified (Rom.5:1-10). Only Christ Jesus, God’s only begotten Son (John 3:16) can make us right in the Father’s sight.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (KJV) Jesus' Words. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV) We either accept God’s Way - - - or we reject His Way and suffer the torment of the flames of fire forever!
1 John 5:10-12 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. [11] And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (KJV) Do NOT call God a “liar”!
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (KJV) Jesus' Words.
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (KJV) . . . . . . . Believe the Bible!
