Lordship Salvation

What is "Lordship Salvation"?

Mark 14:68 But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew. . . . [71] But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak. (KJV)

Peter absolutely sinned by denying Jesus. BUT, Peter was a born-again believer. King David was a Child of God, BUT he schemed to have a man killed to cover up an unwanted pregnancy from an adulterous affair with that man's wife. Moses was a murderer. Jacob was a thief. When we look at the Old Testament, we would think that drunken Lot was not a believer; BUT, 2 Peter 2:7 calls Lot a "just" man. The Lordship Salvation people would consider all of these people unsaved. BUT, the Bible says that they were saved.

The damnable heresy of Lordship Salvation has crept into our churches, unaware by many, and is leading multitudes into Hell. SO! Just what is "Lordship Salvation?"

Lordship Salvation is the non-Biblical teaching that a person MUST depart from their sins to be saved. Lordship Salvationists twist and pervert the true meaning of the word "repent" in the Word of God.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (KJV) . . . Repentance = a change of mind; reversing a decision; turning away from. It is turning from unbelief, turning away from one's sins. It is going the opposite direction.

Biblical repentance is a change of one's mind concerning sin and unbelief, which causes that soul to turn in faith to the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness and salvation. Jesus NEVER . . . not even once, said: "Give up your sin and I'll save you."

Lordship Salvation and the Pentecostal Charismatic's heresy of losing one's salvation are related Satanic heresies! Lordship Salvationists ADD works to faith to get saved, and the Charismatics ADD works to faith to STAY saved. BOTH these damnable heresies are based in WORKS salvation! What is Biblical Repentance?

A change comes to a person AFTER he/she is saved, NOT before salvation~!
The internet is full of heretics who teach that a person must forsake their sinful life to be saved.

2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV)

A person does NOT become a "new creature" until AFTER he is in Christ (saved). The change comes AFTER a person is saved, NOT before, NEVER before.

I have many inmates who write to me, saying that there are so many in the prisons that claim to be a Christian but the way that they act and speak says differently. It is not only in the prisons, but everywhere in the free world as well. Any person who willingly lives a sinful life, while 'professing' to be a "Christian" . . . probably was never saved in the first place. IF a person is TRULY saved . . . they begin to change their lifestyle.

Lordship Salvationists are self-righteous hypocrites! NO person except our precious Jesus was sinless! ALL people are sinners~!

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (KJV)
The idea that a lost sinner must give up sin to be saved is utter nonsense!

It is quite clear that Ironside taught a Free Grace Salvation! John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (KJV) . . . . . . Jesus' words.Whosoever believes in Jesus HAS everlasting life!

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (KJV) . . . Jesus' words. . . . This says NOTHING about departing from sin BEFORE you can be saved!

Lordship Salvation

Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (KJV) . . . Believing in sincere FAITH saves a person!

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: (KJV) . . . Justified . . . declared NOT guilty in the courts of Heaven! Believing in sincere FAITH saves you!

Lordship Salvation is the FALSE doctrine that a sinner must forsake their actual sins to be saved. NOT at all what the Bible teaches! A sinner's faith in Christ . . . that and that alone is sufficient for salvation! I strongly oppose the damnable heresy of Lordship Salvation. It is nothing but a Satanic lie!

The Bible teaches that if a person is truly saved, there should be some evidence by the way that they live.

James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. (KJV) . . . IF a person is truly saved, they desire to obey God! They desire to serve God! Many people say: "I'm a Christian." IF you are truly a Christian, you do NOT need to tell people that! They can SEE you are a Christian by the way that you live, the things that you say, and how you treat your fellow man! The vast majority of people who go around boasting that they are a Christian, are nothing but hypocrites! (Mat.23:13-33). Jesus spoke harsh words against them!

A saved person should bring forth works of righteousness in their life, and I would sincerely doubt the salvation of any person who didn't; BUT, the good works come AFTER a person is saved! Living a consecrated life is NOT a part of saving-faith. Please read the words of Dr. John R. Rice exposing the heresy of Lordship Salvation.

"The argument is concerning salvation itself. Lordship Salvationists are ignorant of the Bible. At some point in the past they got upset seeing professed "Christians" living in sin, so they countered the issue by fabricating the heresy of Lordship Salvation; thus, forcing people to forsake their sins in order to be saved. The problem is that God never said that. Lordship Salvation is a false gospel. You can't force a sinner to forsake his sins by adding it as a requiring for salvation. This is NOT to say that a man can believe on Christ without realizing his GUILT (Romans 3:19) and just condemnation to Hellfire; however, there is a vast difference between realizing one's guilt, and actually forsaking the sin itself. Biblical repentance is NOT forsaking the act of sin, which is absolutely impossible for anyone. See how the apostle Paul struggled with sin. And my friend . . . Paul was SAVED! (Rom.7:14-25). For anyone to say that a person MUST forsake their sins to be saved is a self-righteous hypocrite, because NO ONE can live without sin! I believe the Bible! And it tells me that I am a sinner . . . BUT, I am a SAVED sinner!

I absolutely oppose the Lordship Salvation heresy. I do NOT believe that a TRUE believer lives like the world. A TRUE believer has the Holy Spirit (Rom.8:9) to chastise when they say or do something wrong. I know that ALL believers struggle with sin . . . but that does NOT mean they are not saved. TRUE believers are commanded to walk in the Spirit (Rom.8:1,4; Gal.5:16,25).

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (KJV) . . . When a person is saved, they walk after the Spirit, and they are NOT condemned by God!

No TRUE believer can live in sin and be truly happy. NO way! The Holy Spirit will NOT allow it! We ALL will sin, day after day. BUT, we CANNOT practice sin! God the Holy Spirit will NOT allow us to do it!

God clearly states in Hebrews 12:1-8 that He will chastise believers. I also believe that believers will backslide some time (Pro.14:14). But, the Holy Spirit will convict a backslider. Lordship Salvationists do NOT allow for a Christian to backslide. that is complete nonsense! They consider a backslidden believer to be NO believer at all, and that is NOT Biblical! The Word of God gives us MANY references of heroes of the faith who backslid into horrible sin (like king David who committed adultery and murder).

The Bible says that there is an ongoing battle in every TRUE believer between the sinful flesh and the Spirit of God (Rom.7:14-24; Eph.6:10-18; James 4:1). The Apostle Paul was a saved man . . . yet he struggled with sin, that same as ALL believers do!

Romans 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. (KJV) . . . Can't you SEE Paul's struggle? He did NOT want to sin, but the old nature within him was batting heads with his new nature and sometimes that old sinful nature wins! This Scripture alone proves the ignorance and hypocrisy of the proponents of the Lordship Salvation heresy.

Those believing and teaching Lordship Salvation are blinded by the devil to the fact that EVERY believer still has to contend with the carnal flesh. That old nature will be with us until we are resurrected (or at the Rapture). ONLY when we receive our NEW spiritual bodies (1 Cor.15:42,44,49,52; Phil.3:21) will we not ever sin again!

Many times in the Bible, it tells us that God's TRUE people shall backslide, stumble and sometimes even fall . . . BUT we are NOT doomed! God is ALWAYS there to give us His Hand to help us up again! Below are just a few examples!

Psalm 37:24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. (KJV) . . . We may at times fall under the power of our adversary, we shall NOT be forsaken by God!

Proverbs 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. (KJV) . . . Seven = an indefinite number. A just man is one of God's TRUE people! He may fall many times, but he shall rise up again!

Isaiah 50:7-9 For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. [8] He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me. [9] Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up. (KJV) . . . Lordship Salvationists condemn us . . . God does NOT condemn us!

Micah 7:8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me. (KJV) . . . I may fall! BUT, I shall arise again with the help of my Lord Jesus and His Spirit!

ALL TRUE Christians will falter in their faith at times. ALL TRUE Christians will at times sin as long as we live this life on earth. Lordship Salvation is WRONG! They are the religious Pharisees of our time. HYPOCRITES!

A person does NOT have to repent of all their sins in order to be saved! That is NOT what the Bible says! My friend. . . it would be utterly impossible to "repent of all your sins." God is SO good, SO holy, SO just, SO right about ALL things . . . we sin when we don't even know it! I have been saved for over 40 years, and I know for a fact that I still have not repented of all my sins!

The Bible says that there will be a separate judgment in Heaven just for believers. Doesn't this fact prove that a TRUE believer CANNOT lose their salvation because of sin.

IF sinful believers went to Hell, then there would NOT be any need for a separate judgment for believers.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. [12] Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; [13] Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. [14][ If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. [15] If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. (KJV)

Many believers will escape this Judgment by the "skin of their teeth" as the old saying goes. Verse 15 tells us that some believers will escape Hell "as by fire" meaning that there shall be NO rewards for them in Heaven. All TRUE believers who stand before Jesus at the Judgment Seat, already have their destination decided! HEAVEN! The Charismatic heresy that salvation can be lost is WRONG!

It is sinful for those who spread the Lordship Salvation heresy . . . and absolutely crazy that gullible people believe it! They accuse TRUE Bible-believing Christians that we make void the Law is absurd and completely false! When a Christian sins, it does NOT mean that they have chosen Satan as their lord! That is utterly ridiculous! Did king David make Satan his lord when he deliberately planned and committed adultery and murder? NO way my friend! Did Peter make Satan his lord when he denied Christ? Absolute stupidity! EVERY believer struggles with their old sin-nature, and shall continue to struggle until they receive their new spiritual, sin-free body like Jesus! (1 Cor.15:49; 2 Cor.5:2; Phil.3:21). We CAN walk in the Spirit at all the time IF we so choose to do so . . . but we do NOT always walk in the Spirit because of giving in to that old sin-nature. God gives us the ability to escape temptation.

1 Cor.10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (KJV) . . . This verse tells me that when God shuts a door, He opens a window somewhere! God will NEVER give us more than we can bear, and He is NEVER too far off that He won't help us! GOD IS SO GOOD!!!
