WHAT is the Emergent Church Movement?

This deceiving, modern church movement gets its name from the idea that as culture changes, churches should change to keep up . . . with NO regard whatsoever that God does NOT change, ever (Ps.33:11; Mal.3:6; Heb.1:12; 13:8; Jam.1:17). The response by various church leaders is to look to the current era of post-modernism, and even though post-modernism began in the 1950s, the church did not really start to conform to its beliefs and rules until the 1990s. Post-modernism really is a shedding of "cold, hard facts" and cuddling up to "warm, fuzzy subjectivity." The Emergent Church Movement can be thought of the same way.

The Emergent Church Movement thinks post-modernist . . . experience instead of reason, independence instead of submission, spirituality instead of devotion, images instead of words, outward instead of inward, feelings instead of Truth. Compromise in order to actively engage contemporary culture. There is no set standard yet of "doing" church amongst these groups. They really reject any standard method for doing anything, so there is a large range of how far groups take a post-modernist approach to Christianity. Some groups go only a little way in order to impact their community for Christ, and remain biblically sound . . . BUT most groups embrace post-modernist thinking, which eventually leads to a very liberal, loose translation of the Bible. This, in turn, lends to liberal doctrine and theology. Go along with the world.

The Emergent Church movement is rapidly becoming anti-biblical is its focus on ecumenism. Unity among people coming from different religious and ethnic backgrounds and diversity in the expression of corporate worship are a strong focus of the emergent church movement. Being ecumenical means compromise! Catholics and Protestants CANNOT possibly agree Biblically! Muslims and Christians CANNOT possibly agree Biblically! To have unity, there must be compromise . . . which results in a watered down version of Scripture (new fangled, modern, corrupt bibles)in favor of NOT offending an apostate. That is RIDICULOUS! This is in direct opposition to the Bible! Jesus clearly WARNS the church of Pergamum against tolerating those who teach false doctrine. Revelation 2:14-17 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. 15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. 16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. False doctrine seems to abound in the Emergent Church Movement, although, as stated above, not every group adopts Emergent Church beliefs. BEWARE!!! Great care must be taken when deciding whether or not to become involved with an emergent church group. Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing! (Matthew 7:15-20).

Purpose Driven and Emergent Take-Over of Christianity

Worship Service and Bible study in the past has traditionally been the time when church members met to learn sound doctrine. It seems that Sunday (the Lord's Day) is now the time to entertain unbelievers. Many pastors going along with this modern "Church" style believe people will see the light WITHOUT teaching about man's sinfulness and his need to be saved by the Blood of Christ. My question is: HOW??? Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (KJV) . . . IF a person does NOT hear the TRUE Gospel of Jesus Christ, they CANNOT be saved! Today's preachers are NOT preaching repentance! Preachers are NOT preaching the FACT of the punishment of Hell! Preachers are NOT preaching the FACT that there IS a judgment to come! WHY??? Because IF they preach the TRUTH, people will NOT come! People do NOT want to hear that they are sinners! (Rom.3:10;23). They will go where they hear what they WANT to hear, NOT what they NEED to hear! 2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (KJV)

It seems that these modern day Emergent Church leaders are completely BLIND to the TRUTH of God's Holy Word . . . which they SAY they are teaching. They seem totally corrupted by worldly motives . . . wanting only bigger numbers, bigger churches, bigger bank accounts so they and their church organizations will appear successful in the eyes of the world. How sad! They seem as if they do NOT believe God that they shall be judged!

It is hard to believe some of the names in SUPPOSED Christianity that have given glowing endorsements to Rick Warren's book, “The Purpose Driven Life” and his Global Peace Plan agenda. I have not read it, nor do I intend to. I have much better things to do! I am NOT a fan of Rick Warren. He is leading far too many sheep to slaughter!

This is a sad generation . . . truth in today's world is simply what people WANT to believe, it is NOT Biblical Truth! Those who think this way have now subtly crept into modern churches and are simply taking over! Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (KJV) . . . These "ungodly" people believe IF it works it's OK and God or some higher power must be in it. A recent survey said that only 10 % of Evangelical Christians believe in absolute Truth. The church has become brainwashed by the world.

So many well known names in "Christianity" have gone over to the purpose driven way because it is so popular. It certainly CANNOT be because of any deep and true doctrine. Church growth programs are based on theories of Satanic secular psychology. Nearly every one of the the well known Christian leaders seems to have left sound biblical doctrine and are teaching "another Jesus" and "another gospel" (2 Cor.11:4; Gal.1:6).

The Purpose Driven Seeker Friendly Movement has infiltrated a large segment of Calvary Chapels and Evangelical free Churches . . . which USED TO BE great Bible teaching churches where you were taught the Word of God on Sunday by a God fearing teacher. Now some of those churches give a watered down "another gospel" message instead of solid Bible teaching.

WHERE are the godly leaders of Christianity today? WHY are they not speaking out against this travesty? WHY are they walking that broad road of self help success psychologists. The Emergent Church Movement?

The post modern generation have NO Biblical morals, so how can the churches have any? I must ask: On WHAT do they base their SUPPOSED Christianity on? It CANNOT be the Jesus of the Bible! Their Jesus is "another Jesus" (2 Cor.11:4) conjured up in the crystal ball of their ungodly minds. Am I being too "harsh"? I hate damnable heresies (2 Pet.2:1) and the heretics who bring them are inexcusable in my eyes. They embrace the new age mystical experiences, feelings, and goose bumps instead of Bible Truths! Their beliefs are very similar to those of Eastern religions, except Jesus is their Guru.

What is Vintage Christianity?

Many in the Emergent Church Movement say we have to return to vintage Christianity. WHAT is "vintage Christianity"? My friend, it is nothing but Catholicism! It is returning to a mystical environment with stain glass, dark churches, candles and emphasis on mystical things like Christ being present in the bread and wine. In other words return to everything Catholic. The one-world religion is rapidly arriving! (Rev.17). We are really heading toward the one-world church and the Antichrist in the Great Tribulation! All this should be really clear to any TRUE Christian . . . to a type of pseudo (false) Christianity that can easily fit the role of the one world ecumenical movement that eventually brings in the Antichrist.

The Christian leaders of these seeker-friendly churches are hijacking TRUE Christianity. They can back off and take a stand for the TRUE Jesus now, or suffer the consequences when the hear the verdict from the Great Judge Jesus on Judgment Day. The choice is theirs. Surely they know that there is NO appeal. What about the congregation? They need to get rid of leaders who fall for this watered down Christianity, for they too will soon find themselves before this awesome Judge. BEWARE people!!!

THE EMERGING CHURCH, PAGANISM, CATHOLICISM, THE NEW AGE, all rolled into one

On March 20, 2009, Richard Rohr and the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, New Mexico, hosted an Emerging Church conference for three days. Speakers were Brian McLaren, Phyllis Tickle, and Shane Claiborne. It was billed as “the first large gathering of Roman Catholic, Mainline Protestant, Evangelical, and other Christians seeking to explore this emergence and convergence together.” Rohr is a Franciscan priest who is deeply involved in mysticism and liberal “social-justice” works. He holds to a universalistic, panentheistic doctrine and believes that much in the Bible, such as the Garden of Eden, is mythical. Like Thomas Merton, Rohr integrates pagan contemplative practices with that of ancient Catholic “saints.” He has adapted such things as Buddhist koans and Hindu mantras. In January 2008 Rohr and his organization sponsored a conference called “Jesus and Buddha: Paths to Awakening.” HOW SICKENING! Jesus and Buddha together? Blasphemy!!! The announcement said, “The teachings of both Jesus and Buddha call us to transformational honesty. They are both teaching us how to see, and how to see all the way through! They both knew that if you see God for yourself, you will see the Divine in all things.” RIDICULOUS! This is the essence of Hinduism, the New Age, and the Emerging Church. Biblical Christianity teaches that there is truth and error, right and wrong, good and bad, God and the Devil, light and dark, that there is only ONE Way of salvation and many false ways, and that men are either saved or lost. The Emergent Church Movement is WRONG and DANGEROUS!

If you ask Christians: "What is this Emergent Church?" You will NOT get a definite answer . . . probably: "I don't know." This movement is like an uncontrolled fire devouring entire denominations and churches that were once rock solid . . . apostasy. This Movement is NOT empowered by God, it is of the devil! Remember . . . if anything is not of God, it is of the devil! So . . . what is this demonic phenomenon all about?

To start with, it is mystical. It draws upon things that the "ancient desert fathers" embraced such as contemplative prayer, breath prayers, walking the maize known as the labyrinth, Yoga . . . ALL devil's doctrines . . . and all these are SUPPOSED to get a person closer to God. They do NOT bring a person closer to God! They do exactly the opposite! They bring a person closer to Satan and the occult! Some of these practices send you into an altered state of consciousness, like someone on drugs. The Emergent Church is NOT interested in God, Jesus or Biblical doctrine. The wndrous riches of wisdom and knowledge that are found in Christ Jesus are NEVER accessed by mystical methods! God gave us His Word by which to increase our wisdom and learning of Him and His ways! We are wise only when we study and obey His Word!

Emergent Church promoters say that the church fails to reach the culture. But their solution is so much worse than the problems! New Age concepts and practices from eastern mysticism, universalism, and pantheism are part of their program. They use non Biblical ideas from other FALSE religions. Their "way" is NOT the answer! The Lord can reach people no matter WHAT culture they are in! Emergents are using EVIL methods to reach people, and God is NOT and will NOT be happy with their way! NO one can get results from God by rejecting the Bible and using other religion's heresies! 1 Cor. 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. (KJV) . . . Emergents do not take this into account.

The Emergent church movement has been endorsed by Rick Warren and other well known leaders. The philosophy behind this fast growing movement is that purpose driven churches were designed to appeal to baby boomers but now they need churches that will appeal to the post modern younger generations. The emerging churches will be more experience orientated and will rely more on story telling on Sunday (the Lord's day) then on teaching Scripture. Some in this movement call the teaching of Christian doctrine divisive and say that everything has to be redefined in the light of modernism. This post modern generation have no moral absolutes and neither will these churches. To me, a "church" is where one goes to worship Almighty God and learn how He wants us to live, by consistent study of the Bible.

Just WHAT do these 'Emergents' base their "Christianity" on? In my humble opinion, THEIR so-called "Christianity" is in a Jesus fabricated by the devil. They embrace and must have, mystical experiences, feelings, and goose bumps INSTEAD of Biblical TRUTH! They want things you can feel, touch, and smell . . . like incense and icons. This is an EVIL movement, and seems to be determined to re-invent Christianity (???). Do you really think that God WANTS anyone to re-invent Christianity! God does NOT change, ever! (Mal.3:6; Heb.13:8).

This evil movement takes people's eyes completely OFF of the cross of Christ and ONTO experience. The Emergent Movement does NOT consider the Bible as their authority. They are determined to take the world and church forward, but they say we must go backward in church history and embrace Catholic beliefs to do this. But . . . their damnable doctrine is much closer to Buddhism, Hinduism, and "New Age" than it is to Catholicism traditional Christianity. Hell, sin, and repentance are downplayed . . . they want NO one to be offended. Their beliefs are very similar to those of Eastern religions, but Jesus is their own personal Guru. My friend . . . THEIR Jesus is NOT the Jesus of the Bible. The Emergents have a Jesus NOT in the Bible. They have a Satanic, prefabricated Jesus; "another Jesus" (2 Cor.11:4).

They say they need to reach the postmodern generation. Postmodern??? WHAT is that? This generation is quite different than when I was growing up. To reach this generation, ALL the old rock solid doctrines and traditions must be cast off, far, far away! The TRUE Gospel message is too severe and turns them away. It states we ALL are sinners bound for Hell . . . and they will NOT stand for that! So . . . Emergents had to come up with a more moderate gospel, a compromising gospel (another gospel Gal.1:6; 2 Cor.11:4). Something had to be invented so it would be accepted by the multitudes in this younger generation. So sad . . . this utter deception is more in line with the occult than anything else! They emphasize the Kingdom of God NOW. They do NOT heed the warnings of Scripture about the imminent return of Christ and a coming judgment in the future. Christians are to WATCH!!! (Mat.24:42; 25;13; Mark 13:33-35; 1 Thes.5:6; Rev.3:3).

These people are call themselves "evangelicals." How utterly absurd!!! A TRUE "evangelical" is a conservative Christian . . . one that Emergents call "wackos". Evangelicals have 'old-fashioned' fundamental Biblical beliefs which Emergents reject! Yet, Time Magazine called Emergent leader Brian McLaren one of the top 25 evangelicals influencing the world. One of McLaren's books is titled Everything Must Change. The church must change to conform to the modern day culture. Old ways must be discarded. This is NOT compromise . . . this is throw away God and His Holy Word!

Another prominent leader is Rob Bell. He shows up in many "evangelical" churches with his DVDs. One of his many despicable statements is: "This is not just the same old message with new methods. We're rediscovering Christianity as an Eastern religion." In another, he promotes the feminine side of God. Other prominent Emergent Church leaders include Doug Pagitt, Dan Kimball,Tony Jones, Dallas Willard, and Robert Webber. There are many more, the list is long. This relatively new movement is seducing millions with its dangerous, unsound, unbiblical, and alarming heresies. Be extremely careful that this Emergent Church does not submerge you! BEWARE my friend.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY???

The Holy Word of God is in direct contrast to the Emergent Church approach to witness and ministry. The Bible tells us clearly over and over again that the world is in darkness. (Mat.4:16; Mat.6:23; Lu.1:79; Lu.11:35; Lu.21:6; John 1:5; John 3:19-21; John 8:12; John 11:9-10; John 12:35, 46; Rom.1:21; Rom.11:10; Rom.13:12; Eph.4:18; Eph. 5:8; Eph.6:12; Col.1:13; 1 Thes.5:4; 1 Pet.2:9; 2 Pet.1:19; 1 John 1:5-7; 1 John 2:9; 1 John 2:8-11) Acts 26:15-18 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. [16] But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; [17] Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, [18] To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. (KJV) . . . Jesus' Words. . . . The TRUE church is open people's eyes so that they may SEE Jesus and the salvation that He offers! The Emergent Church is NOT doing as Jesus commanded! The Bible simply states that the world (unbelievers) CANNOT see the Truth. And too, the world's blindness to God's Truth is accompanied by an inclination to do works of immoral darkness.
1 Thes.5:2-5 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. [3] For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. [4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. [5] Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. [6] Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. (KJV)
1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: (KJV) . . . The TRUE Church is the LIGHT in the darkness and we are commanded to shine! We are supposed to willingly and unashamedly proclaim the absolute TRUTH to the world (Mark 8:38).

Our lifestyle MUST be in direct contrast to the ways of darkness rampant in the world . . . or we are NOT Christians! Being LIGHT means that we do NOT condescend to, do NOT compromise with any kind of heresies NO matter how many others do! We must believe and abide by God's Word, and we MUST proclaim God's Truth. Since we are the LIGHT of the world, we are aliens and strangers who represent the Kingdom of God (Eph.2:12). We KNOW the Truth and it has set us free from bondage to any worldly culture (John 8:31-36). We, as LIGHT must in contrast stand firm against the darkness all around us. We must NEVER conform to it or compromise with it. Disobedience to our awesome and Almighty God will bring down His holy wrath, and the judgment He will declare will be extremely harsh!

Matthew 5:13-16 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. [14] Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. [15] Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. [16] Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (KJV) . . . Jesus' Words.
John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. (KJV) . . . Jesus' Words.
John 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; [32] And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV) . . . Jesus' Words.
Romans 13:9-13 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [10] Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. [11] And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. [12] The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. [13] Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. (KJV)

Right doctrine and a moral lifestyle are a must of those who call themselves God's people. We must separate ourselves from the works of darkness (including FALSE religions). Belief in God's absolute Truth and obedience to His absolute commands are NOT optional. 2 John 1:9-11 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. [10] If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: [11] For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. (KJV) . . . If a person does NOT abide in the doctrine of Christ Jesus, they do NOT have God! If they do not have God they do not have salvation of their soul!!!
If you are going to an Emergent church . . . GET OUT NOW!!! They will take you to Hell with them! BEWARE!!!

Matthew 7:13-15 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: [14] Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. [15] Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (KJV) . . . Jesus' Words. . . . To be the LIGHT of the world demands that we are NOT ashamed of Jesus or the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that we are bold in our witness for Him.

The Emergent Church Movement contains people of many different beliefs, and their church talk is ridiculous. I enter just a few of what I consider the most stupid!

Faith - The state of being proud of one's ignorance and confusion.
Fundamentalists - People we have a right to express hatred of in our blogs.
God - A being who is past our figuring out, except that we know he is too loving to be wrathful.
Heaven - A place self-centered moderns aspire to while we create paradise on earth.
Hell - A word we never, never use unless we are swearing.
Homosexuals - People who Fundamentalists hate and exclude from the community of the faithful.
Judgment - Unpleasant experiences we have in this life. It probably has nothing to do with eternity.
Kingdom of God - The brave new world we are working to establish that is politically correct and environmentally clean for people of all beliefs.
Misrepresentation - Any statement about the emerging church made by unenlightened Evangelicals who do not endorse the conversation.
Orthodoxy - Whatever non-Evangelicals want to believe as long as they are nice people.
Oversimplification - Any attempt by outsiders to describe the emerging church conversation.
Persecution - Many conservatives saying they disagree with us.
Protest - The emerging church posture toward everything in old-fashioned, conservative Evangelicalism.
Relevance - Telling the world what it wants to hear.
Salvation - . . . . I mean, really, we could not even begin to discuss the meaning of this word in such a brief space, could we?
Sin - A word that is sinful to use.
Truth - Whatever we say it is.
